Why does everyone make the playoffs?
We get asked this question a lot, usually by players finishing at the top a division, wondering why their accomplishments don't count for more.
Our divisions get set up based on who signs up each year, so you could be at the top of one division one year and at the bottom of another division another year, all while playing at the same level of tennis.
The league is set up to encourage you to play matches and meet other players in the league. Adding a playoff round for everyone reinforces that idea. It's nice to get a chance to play at least one match at the end of the season that counts for something, even if you aren't in the top of a division. Maybe you were sick, maybe you were injured, maybe you're really at the bottom of this particular division, but it's good for your game to play matches that count for something at the end of the season, even if it's just to try to win the Singles Blueberry crown!
